Bud Heavy Forgets Defense; Loses by .01

In quite the Week 8 thriller, Twin City Tech and Bud Heavy dueled to the finish on Monday Night Football. With Bud Heavy starting Dallas Clark and TCT starting Dominic Rhodes, TCT GM Matt Austin felt pretty comfortable with his 12 point lead going into action.

And then, all hell broke loose. With 3:33 left in the 1st, Clark caught a TD pass, shrinking the lead to less than 6. After Clark made a tackle off of an interception, gaining 0.5 points, Rhodes stretched out TCT's lead by 1 point in the second quarter on the heels of 29 total yards. Just when TCT thought it was pulling away early in the 3rd frame with 31 yards from Rhodes, Clark caught a 19 yard TD pass, scoring 6.95 points.

With Bud Heavy hanging on for dear life, TCT found some magic in the form of Dominic Rhodes. 10 yard gain, 3 yard gain, solo tackle = 1.15 pts. At that point, the Raiders felt they had sealed the deal. Bud Heavy staged a late comeback, as Clark caught a 6 yard pass and an 11 yard pass, netting 0.85 points. This put Bud Heavy on top by 0.29 points, and the top rated offense of TCT looked crushed on the sidelines. But alas, with less than 2 minutes left, Dominic Rhodes bailed out the Raiders with 2 gains totalling 6 yards and .3 points! Final Score 87.02 - 87.01, TCT pulled out a dramatic victory.

With 7 teams now tied at 5-3, the Raiders control their own destiny to win their 2nd consecutive regular season title. Journeyman Kurt Warner leads his top rated offense into Weymouth this week. The early line from Vegas is TCT (-28).

5-3 BHU hosts Golden this week, looking to avenge last years embarassing defeat at the hands of the Gryphons. Good thing Green Bay's Defense doesn't have another bye week, GM Kevin Neville might "forget" to get another defense again.
